Lekpele M. Nyamalon is an award-winning Poet, Writer, Speaker and Author. He is Poetry
fellow of the Open Society Initiative of West Africa and a Mandela Washington Fellow. He has
graced stages with his poetry and speaking across Liberia, Africa and the U.S.A.
Lekpele was a speaker at Liberia’s first TED event, TEDx Monrovia. His chapbook ‘Yearnings
of a traveler explores themes around Migration, Pan Africanism, Gender, Colonialism, etc.
He is a contemporary leader from Liberia and a child survival of conflict who uses his voice to
inspire whole new generation of young leaders.
He witnessed the civil war as a child and captured his experiences in his signature volume of
poetry ‘Scary Dreams, an anthology of the Liberian Civil War.
He is a Telecommunications and Marketing Professional with more than a decade experience in
the Telecommunications Industry, working in the Private and Public Sectors in Liberia.
Lekpele is a sought-after speaker at conferences, community events and hosts a monthly book
chat and lecture series with Liberian youth on the history of the civil war with a focus to provide
healing, knowledge and fostering national reconciliation and growth.
He is the founder of Africa’s Life- an afro centric youth-based movement to articulate awareness
of social and political issues affecting Africa through Arts & Culture.
He is a regular columnist of the Daily Observer Newspaper in Liberia.
